Course Description

This 9-hour professional development course is offered to All Our Kin’s Family Child Care Providers. Through this course, participants will learn about the Montessori approach to education, which provides both insight and practices for child-centered care that is developmentally attuned and highly practical while, at the same time, offering a pedagogy rooted in the belief in the unmanifested potential and inherent assets of both children and adults. Participants in this course will learn about

  • Culturally Responsive & Asset-Based Montessori Pedagogy in Home Environments
  • Needs and Stages of Child Development
  • Montessori Practices in Home Environments
  • Role of the Montessori Adult in Family Childcare
  • Adult and Child Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing as Response to Stress and Trauma
  • Behavior Management and Family Communication

    All sessions will be held virtually from 6:30-8:00pm EST on the following dates:

  • January 22
  • January 29
  • February 5
  • February 12
  • February 26 (No live session on February 19th, Presidents’ Day)
  • March 4

    Participants who successfully complete this course will be eligible to request Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Loyola University Maryland.
