How to Conduct an Interview
Course Description
Interviewing may seem simple. If it is done correctly, then there are positive rewards for the people in the process as well as for the organization. However, if not done correctly, then there can be significant consequences for your company or organization. In this course, you will learn how to properly prepare for an interview, tips and techniques on conducting the actual interview, and how to review your evaluation of candidates to make the best hiring choice which will set up your new hire and your organization for success.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify key job requirements/criteria for a new hire to be successful.
- Identify questions that are legal and illegal to ask in an interview.
- Write interview questions that align with the key components of the position.
- Create a way to record and evaluate candidate responses during an interview.
- Recognize characteristics and attributes that could indicate negative connotations for the person’s work ethic or attitude towards a job (red flags).
- Debrief an interview for meaningful conclusions.
- Make a recommendation about a candidate based on objective observations and the candidate’s alignment with the position.
